New or Used Car, How To Choose

When it is time to buy a car regardless of need or want, the first thing to consider is will it be a new or used car. Both a new or used car have their pros and cons. The choice is yours, but I have listed some of the reasons to consider when making your purchase decision. You will need to consider needs, wants, budget, and warranty.

Some things to consider when buying a new or used car:

New or Used Car:The Price Choice

If you are on a tight budget a used car might be your best choice. Though there are a couple of new cars that sell for around ten thousand dollars, they usually have only a few amenities, with some having none of the following: air-conditioning, stereo. Sometimes the cars come with only two doors and crank windows. On the other hand, three to four-year old used cars loaded with more than the bare-boned features of a basic used car like a CD player, air conditioning, airbags and power windows can be a great deal.

The more expensive new cars cost more because of the newest and updated safety features they like front and side airbags and vehicle stability control. New cars may also include some extra features such as: beverage holders that keep drinks hot or cold, Ipod connection to the sound system, remote start and smart key.

You have to decide what is right for your situation.

New or Used Car Warranty

New cars include a warranty for a minimum of three years up to to a maximum of ten years from some manufacturers. Kia and Hyundai are currently including a ten year warranty for their vehicles. Daimler-Chrysler, regardless of their financial woes include a seven year warranty for their Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brands.

Some late model used cars will complete their original warranty and usually can be extended if they are protected by the manufacturers vehicle certification program. When they are not factory certified used cars you could spend anywhere from a few hundred to  a couple thousand to purchase an extended warranty.

New or Used Car The Mileage Choice

Used cars come with any number of miles on them already. New cars today do not need any maintenance for the first five thousand miles. Some manufacturers include certain basic maintenance with a new car purchase.

New or Used Car There Are There Options

When buying a used car you will have to take what is available. You must be more flexible when choosing a used car. You may have to visit many, many dealers to get a certain color, with acceptable miles and options. After all there is no such thing as a used car factory. New car buyers have the choice of colors, options, trim levels and practically anything you want. If you want a specific car with a certain color and options, most dealers will be happy to get one or order on for you. You are spending a lot of money when you buy a new car, you might as well get what you want.
